FROM THE PRINCIPAL: We have some exciting events happening this month at school! The students are involved in many different activities: basketball, MusicMakers, debating and field trips. We are excited to host an information evening for parents with our guest speaker, Ann Douglas. We have partnered with Chelsea Elementary for these two sessions. Ann will visit Wakefield Elementary on Monday, April 23rd from 6:007:30pm to present a general overview of Big Picture Parenting. On Tuesday, April 24th, she will present Parenting Through the Storm at Chelsea Elementary from 6:00-7:30pm. Please feel free to attend either or both sessions- all parents are welcome. In 2019, Wakefield School has been chosen to be the site of a micro forest in our playground areas. The La Peche Global Forest Initiative is supporting this project with us, and they are a citizen’s committee which will plant mixed micro forests of indigenous trees each year. The launch of this project will be on Earth Day, Sunday April 22nd where they will be sponsoring the screening of the film “Call of the Forest” at the Wakefield Community Centre- we invite you to come. ART GALLERY FIELD TRIPS Yesterday, April 4th both Grade 1 classes visited the National Art Gallery. Our Grade 2 classes will be attending today, April 5th.
VACCINATIONS The second round of vaccinations took place for both Grade 4 classes April 4th.

HADLEY/PHILEMON BAND The Hadley/Philemon Wright Band visits today, April 5th to perform for our students in the gym.
GRADE 5 OVERNIGHT TRIPS Mme Karine’s Grade 5 class has an overnight trip to Mr. Earwaker’s cabin planned from Tuesday, April 10th-Wednesday, April 11th. Ms. Bardell’s class will attend from Thursday, April 12th- Friday, April 13th. This trip focuses on environmental studies.
BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT A group of Grade 6 students will be attending a basketball tournament on Friday, April 13th at D’Arcy McGee High School.
SKATING On Friday, April 13th our K4, K5, And Cycle 1 students will be skating at the Masham Arena.
GOVERNING BOARD The next Governing Board meeting takes place on Tuesday, April 17th at 5pm in the library.
BAKE SALE Our Grade 6 classes will be holding a bake sale on Friday, April 20th to raise funds for graduation activities.
ANN DOUGLAS Guest speaker Ann Douglas will be at Wakefield School on Monday, April 23rd from 6-7:30pm for a presentation of Big Picture Parenting. On Tuesday, April 24th, she will present Parenting Through the Storm at Chelsea Elementary from 6:007:30pm.
HOME AND SCHOOL The next Home and School meeting takes place on Wednesday, April 25th at 7pm in the library.
MUSIC MAKERS Music Makers takes place on Wednesday, April 25th at the Palais de Conges in Hull. Please see attached info.

SPIRIT DAY Thursday, April 26th is Spirit Day-wear your favorite jersey! Our monthly assembly will also take place in the afternoon.

PD DAY Friday, April 27th is a PD day. The daycare will be going skating at the Masham Arena in the morning and returning to the school for activities in the afternoon. The deadline to sign up is Friday, April 20th. This event is only available to daycare regulars.
DEBATE TEAM Our Grade 6 debate team will attend a debating completion on April 27th at Lord Aylmer School.
