Homework Expectations at Wakefield School

At Wakefield School, we feel that homework is an important way for student to practice what they have learned at school and to reinforce their skills and knowledge.
Here is an outline of homework expectations by grade level, keeping in mind that we understand that families are busy.

K5 English Home Reading program (starts in mid-April)
French Occasional theme vocabulary review
Grade 1 English
  • Home reading (10 mins a day Mon- Thurs)
  • Power Word practice (5 mins / week)
Math
  • Complete any unfinished work
  • Extra home support if needed
  • Reflex Math, IXL websites (optional)
French
  • Songbook- Term 1
  • Home reading (starts in January)
  • AIM Portfolio presentation (1 or 2 a year)
Grade 2 English
  • Home reading (20 mins a day)
  • Science text
  • Power words practice (reading + writing)
Math
  • Complete any unfinished work
  • Extra home support if needed
  • Reflex Math, IXL websites (optional)
French
  • Home reading (10 mins a day; October-June)
  • Songbook
  • AIM portfolio presentation (twice a year)
Grade 3 English
  • Home reading and fluency text
  • Home reading and brief summary
