Date: April 9, 2018 Author: Julie Fram-Greig Categories: Principal's Message

FROM THE PRINCIPAL: We have some exciting events happening this month at school! The students are involved in many different activities: basketball, MusicMakers, debating and field trips. We are excited to host an information evening for parents with our guest speaker, Ann Douglas. We have partnered with Chelsea Elementary for these two sessions. Ann will visit Wakefield Elementary on Monday, April 23rd from 6:007:30pm to present a general overview of Big Picture Parenting. On Tuesday, April 24th, she will present Parenting Through the Storm at Chelsea Elementary from 6:00-7:30pm. Please feel free to attend either or both sessions- all parents are welcome. For more information, please visit http://www.anndouglas.ca/ Hope to see you there.
In 2019, Wakefield School has been chosen to be the site of a micro forest in our playground areas. The La Peche Global Forest Initiative is supporting this project with us, and they are a citizen’s committee which will plant mixed micro forests of indigenous trees each year. For more information about the committee, please contact Noelle: knwalsh@bell.net or ilse: turnsen@gmail.com. The launch of this project will be on Earth Day, Sunday April 22nd where they will be sponsoring the screening of the film “Call of the Forest” at the Wakefield Community Centre- we invite you to come.
