FROM THE PRINCIPAL: With Term 1 finishing, report cards will be sent home this month and ParentTeacher interviews are coming up to discuss your child’s progress so far. These will be held by appointment in the Library with your child’s teaching team to discuss their progress. A letter will be sent home shortly outlining the process.
The Playground work is underway for the expansion of the upper area. The team has been working on clearing the area, levelling it with fill and fencing so that it will be ready for the play structures to be moved in the new year.
A “Howl Out” to Wakefield School for our two fundraising initiatives to support important causes: our Toonies for Terry campaign raised $437.35 to be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Me to We fundraiser to support victims in the Caribbean affected by Hurricane Irma raised $785 to be donated to Red Cross. Congratulations Wakefield Wolves!!
This year, we are continuing with our monthly assemblies to celebrate our school awards: Be Yourself, Better Yourself, Believe in Yourself and Leader of the Pack. We are also focusing on a monthly virtue that we will reinforce with classroom activities and bulletin board displays. For school spirit, we will also have spirit days throughout the year. The virtue for November is Showing Patience, and our assembly/spirit day is on Nov 30th- wear your bling and swag! Please check our website for a list of our spirit days and virtues.
A big thank-you goes out to WEHSA for organizing our Halloween activities on Tuesday.

FOOTBALL Our Grade 6 students are attending a Football Tournament today at Lord Aylmer School.
END OF TERM November 3rd marks the end of term 1. Term 2 begins November 6th.
BAKE SALE Our Grade 6 classes will hold a bake sale on November 9th at lunch. Proceeds will go towards graduation activities.
REMEMBRANCE DAY We will hold a Remembrance Day assembly on November 10th at 8:30am in the gym. Parents are welcome to join.
FLUORIDE TREATMENTS The dentist will be here between November 15th and 21st to administer fluoride treatments to the students who are participating in this program.
ME2WE On November 15th our ME2WE group will attend WE day in Ottawa.
GRADE 5 On November 17th our Grade 5 classes will go to see the movie “Wonder” after having studied the novel in class.
REPORT CARDS Report cards will be sent home on November 17th.
MOVIE NIGHT There will be a family movie night on November 17th in the gym between 6-8pm. More details to follow.
BOOK FAIR We have a Scholastic Book Fair taking place this month at the school. Classes will attend on Thursday, November 21st throughout the day. The Book Fair will be open during Parent/Teacher interviews on the 21st and 22nd as well. The hours will depend on the number of volunteers we have. PARENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS Parent /teacher interviews take place the evening of November 21st and throughout the day and evening on November 22nd. A form with your interview date and time will be sent home next week. Please make sure to sign and return the form to confirm your attendance.
PD DAYS November 22nd, 23rd and 24th are PD days. The daycare will be open to regulars who pre-register by November 14th. On the 22nd the daycare will be going to Clip and Climb and Glow in the Dark Bowling. Omnikin will be at the school on the 23rd for interactive games and the daycare educators will plan fun activities and a movie for the 24th.
