Principal’s Message September 2016

Date: September 8, 2016 Author: johanne Categories: Principal's Message

Dear Parents

We have some exciting news to report:  we are starting to move ahead on the first stages of the playground, completing the staff parking and building the retaining wall at the back.  This unfortunately will cause some disruption to our morning and afternoon routines.  The work will begin on Tuesday, September 6th for the month of September.  The bus lane will be blocked for all traffic except some staff parking.  The staff parking lot in the back will be blocked as well.  The buses will be using the lane in front of the school for the next month to drop off and pick up students.  Please see map.

  • There will be no access to the lane in front of the school by parents, staff or visitors from 7:30am – 8:30am and from 2:00pm- 4:30pm to accommodate buses for the elementary and high school students.
  • We suggest that parents and visitors park at one of three locations:  at the end of Gendron and walk up the bike path, at the end of Sully and walk up the bike path, or at the Church of La Peche on Riverside and use the crosswalk at Elmdale.

We strongly encourage you to walk or bike to school if possible, or use the bus.  It will be very chaotic at these two busy times of day with these restrictions.  Another suggestion is to avoid being here at the times of day when the parking out front is restricted.  Please adjust your routines accordingly as pick up and drop off will take longer. If someone else is picking up or dropping off your child, please let them know about these changes.

  • Please be respectful of the staff members who have been tasked to monitor traffic in the front lane.  We understand this will be frustrating, but we are trying to accommodate.  We have to work together.

We apologize for the inconvenience and recognize that this is a disruption to all of us- staff, parents and students.  In the end, it means we have our new playground space and that’s a good thing!  We will keep you updated on the progress.  Thank you for your patience.
